Clinical significance:
Distributed in almost every tissue of the body, serum alkaline phosphatase (ALP) levels are of interest in the diagnosis of hepatobiliary disorder and bone disease. Most of the ALP in the normal adult serum is from the liver or biliary tract. Normal alkaline phosphate levels are age-dependent and are elevated during periods of active bone growth.

Intended use:
The Cypress Diagnostics kit Alkaline Phosphatase is an in vitro diagnostic medical device intended to be used for the quantitative measurement of alkaline phosphatase in human serum or heparinized plasma. The device is not automated. The measurement of alkaline phosphatase is intended to be used to aid to identify disorders that cause an increase in ALP including bone diseases such as Paget’s disease, osteomalacia, liver disorders such as hepatitis, cirrhosis, hepatotoxicity caused by drugs, and hyper-para thyroidism in patient risk population. This kit is intended to be used by healthcare professionals in a laboratory-based testing environment.
