Clinical significance:
The Gram stain makes it possible to differentiate bacteria into two groups, based on the color of the cell after staining. It also provides information about the structure of the cell wall and the microbial morphology. This way, essential clues are obtained about potential pathogens present in the patient’s sample, allowing their further characterization.

Intended use:
The Cypress Diagnostics Gram PVP stains are in vitro diagnostic medical devices intended to be used for the differentiation of Gram-positive from Gram-negative bacteria. The staining is performed on smears from various body fluids. The device is not automated. It is a qualitative staining that provides information on the physiological or pathological state of the tissue sample when the staining obtained is interpreted by a trained professional.
